BV9100 5GHz WiFi disconnection issues

Mon Nov 09, 2020 12:12 pm

I have a brand new BV100 that is running BV9100_M860A_V1.0_20200722V3 - this was bought on Amazon

All worked very well for 1 week then I found that I was no longer connected to my home wifi (on a 5GHz connection), which was showing as disabled.
When I tried to connect I briefly saw that it was obtaining an IP address and then connected but immediately it then disconnected again. The phone than repeatedly connected and disconnected (no more than one or two seconds connected) until the SSID was again marked as disabled.
I tried to forget the network, I tried resetting WiFi entirely, and I tried a factory reset - nothing worked. 2.4GHz wifi continued to work fine and my phone was showing other 5GHz connections as available throughout my trouble shooting. I then tried to connect to another 5GHz network and my phone happily connected to it. After using this for a short while (10 minutes or so) I was then able to connect to my home network again.
2 weeks later my home wifi again showed as disabled and so I tried to connect to the alternative network I had used before - this then when through the cycle of repeated connect/disconnect actions until it was also marked disabled. After finding a third 5GHz network to connect to I was again able, after a short period of use, to connect to my home wifi again.
My WiFi preferences did, originally, have Turn On WiFi automatically set to "on" but I have tried turning this off to see if it helps this time (too soon to know yet).

Before this and throughout the time I was having these issues my old phone (Android 7.0) my work phone (Android 9) my wife's phone, a Linux laptop, several Windows 10 Laptops and a printer were all, at various times able to connect to my home 5GHz wireless with out any issues - the 3 phones more or less continually connected and the laptops and printer connecting and disconnecting as and when needed. Even though there is obviously nothing wrong with my router did try restarting it a few times on the first occasion I had the issue.

Do you have any suggestions as to what the issue may be?
Any any firmware updates due soon that might help? Is there any plan to upgrade to Android 10 in case that might help with the issue?
Thanks

When the connection is not possible, you can directly restart the 5G WiFi at home to verify whether it is feasible, how far is the distance after connecting to 5G, and whether there is a partition wall to use

On each occasion that connection was not possible no other devices in the house had issues connecting. My phone showed repeated connect / disconnects until the SSID was marked disabled wherever i was in the house, so on a different floor or in the same room, was the same. Everywhere in the house I see a good signal strength (between -40 and -60dBm depending on how close to the router I am)
Restarting the wireless router, on the first two occasions I had this issue had no effect - only connecting to new SSID helped.
Last night however the problem returned and this time a reboot of the router did help.
