Screen stops taking inputs second try

Sun Oct 25, 2020 5:26 pm

Well lets try this again since my last post was deleted.

BV9800 will periodically throughout the day stop taking touchscreen input, I can't access system buttons on screen or manipulate the device.
When I press the physical buttons they respond volume/ptt/power. When I press the power button the screen will turn off and upon next unlock the screen will start working again normally.

This can happen at any time of day without warning even when in the middle of typing a message. Though subjectively it seems to happen more when on "Night Light" mode, and turning it off can help it happen less frequently.

Any suggestions before buying a new screen/digitizer and swapping it out?

I assumed it might be from damage as my phone had taken a few hits.

But if you are experiencing it as well, it might be something else.

If you are in the warranty period, you can find a buyer to solve this problem.

Hello, after checking with the engineer, they are trying to find the solutions, if it is possible, can you send it back to us for repair? You can contact the after-sale department directly: support02@blackview.hk, or this is my email: mary@blackview.hk. Sorry for this inconvenience caused to you again.

I have been having the same issue with my phone for some time now - I have tried multiple times to create a post here, but the post never appears.

I e-mailed support, and received a 1 line reply saying to contact the seller of the phone directly - I purchased this phone through the Blackview Kickstarter program, so directly from Blackview.  I was hoping for much better support from them.

When I use the phone, it will suddenly stop responding to my finger presses, so becomes completely unresponsive.  The only way to cure this is to lock, then immediately unlock the phone - it will then work for a while, either a few seconds, or indefinitely.  This can also happen when the phone rings, or my alarm goes off - I am unable to accept the call or cancel the alarm util locking and unlocking the phone.

I have tried re-booting the phone a good number of times, but nothing changes.  I do not have any additional screen protectors on the phone - only what was on the phone from new.

If anyone has any ideas of what the cause may be, a resolve, or similar experiences I would be interested to know.

Bien cordialement.

Go to the developer option in the version number, open the pointer to check it, and check if there is a report when there is no touch screen again later

As suggested, I opened the Developer Options and turned on the Pointer Option - when using the phone and it is working OK, it draws a line wherever I press on the screen, and reports the x,y coordinates correctly, but as soon as the phone decides to not recognise my finger movements, the pointer trace line stops, and the coordinates are not shown. At the same time, the phone is still working in the background - the clock changes time etc. - this continues until the phone is locked, then un-locked again, where it will work again for a while.
