ROM update cannot be installed (BRICKED!)

Wed Aug 14, 2019 12:17 pm

I have downloaded the new ROM version "2019071217_s41v71c2k_jk_eea.zip(EEA)" from MEGA, and tried a local install. When I click "install now", it reboot into recovery and immediately shows "error", then boots back to the regular mode without installing anything. I have re-downloaded the file twice, in case of data corruption, but it didn't help.
Also, OTA does not show a new version. So, what can I do to update?

edit: I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but now I am pretty sure that the update must be installed by flashing with the flashtool. I have done this many times on my old BV6000, and will try it later today on my new BV9600, too. I will comment here later how it went...

edit 2: Bricked. I used the latest SP Flashtool to flash the ROM onto my device. The flashtool first complained about something "PMT changed" and suggested to use "format & download" instead of "download only". I wanted a fresh start anyway, so I selected "format & download" and the flashing worked well, as I had seen numerous times before on my old BV6000. I saw the different parts of the ROM being flashed, and had the small window with the giant green tick in the end. HOWEVER, when I went for restart, the phone did not respond at all. It neither starts normally, nor into recovery or test mode. It just looks dead as the parrot in Monty Python's sketch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZw35VUBdzo).
When I try to flash it again, it hardly gets recognized by the computer, and when it does, it shows the red bar with "Download DA 100%" and doesn't move forward for around two minutes, before it stops with an error message "ERROR: STATUS_DEVICE_CTRL_EXCEPTION" or, at other times "ERROR: STATUS_EXT_RAM_EXCEPTION (0xC0050005)".
I understand that flashing a ROM is always somehow risky when it is a third-party-ROM or some custom recovery partition, but this is an official update where such things just must not happen.
So, WHAT NOW???

FOR THE TIME BEING, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE NOT TO INSTALL THIS ROM VERSION!

does anyone have an idea what I can do now? There is not even another version of the ROM (e.g. the original one that the phone came with) that I could try to flash...

Thanks, I am currently downloading it and will try to flash it later. That - from the file name - appears to be the original version that was on the phone before, right?
I'll report the progress of my efforts.

The phone is back to life, THANKS! Flashing the (old) ROM you had supplied worked without problems.
Now, however, it permanently displays two notes in red, in the upper right corner, saying "(three Chinese letters) tee key" and "(the same three Chinese letters) google key". Is this because something is missing in the ROM? How can I get rid of the two notes?

Second, is there a way to update to the new ROM without creating the same brick problem again, or is the new ROM just not working properly? When can we expect an update?
Thanks again for supplying me with a ROM that brings my phone back to life.

edit: according to Google, the Chinese letters apparently mean "not written"
edit 2: both IMEI numbers are also deleted... I have them printed on my box, so I will try to find a way to write them back, but clearly something had gone wrong when I flashed the new version, although it had give the "green tick".

So, it looks like when flashing the new ROM, and the flash tool demanded using "format & download" because of changes in PMT (whatever that is), the NVRAM was also formatted and thus deleted. I didn't expect that at all, as there was no sign of NVRAM in the scatterfile (or it has a name not recognisable as such for me). I think it is easy to flash the NVRAM again, if I had an image of the file - which of course I haven't... I have the IMEIs and the serial on the box of the brand new phone, which I could write back (if one of the tools I found works), but first I need the NVRAM image, right?

I finally got my phone running again. Unfortunately the help from Blackview didn't lead anywhere. Not that they didn't try, but the solutions suggested by customer support don't work for the lack of a complete ROM image that could be flashed with their tool, and their technical department preferred to not answer my request at all. Zero answer. Why? I have no idea.

Anyway, I am skilled in flashing Android phones, so I finally managed to (1) unlock the bootloader (2) flash TWRP (3) root the phone with Magisk (4) re-write the IMEIs, Bluetooth and WiFi addresses, and (5) remove the red overlay text about the MISSING Tee key and Google key.

I would have appreciated more help (especially because I ran into these problems by simply installing their OFFICIAL update to the ROM), but at least my phone is now working better than before...

How did you fee the TEE/Google key problem?  I've been chasing the same problem and can't find much information anywhere.
