[USEFUL] Fix for BV8000 pro not charging anymore

Mon Aug 06, 2018 4:12 pm

BV8000 pro not charging issue fixed

My BV8000 pro malfunctioned with skipping/stuttering audio then shut down
I Powered it back on and 2 hours later it happened again
I Powered it back on.. put it on charge and went to bed

In the morning phone would not power on or show any sign of life
Connecting the charger made the red led flicker faintly but did not reach the charging screen animation that I would expect to see

Purchased and installed a new charge board… but this seemed to have no effect on my issue.

Removed the battery and wired a 3.1a 5v charger directly to the terminals bypassing whatever the long thing circuit board is on top of the battery. I have a usb voltage meter that showed me that the battery was charging.
After putting 400mah into the battery it was getting hot and the display on the voltage meter burned out THIS WAS PROBABLY DANGEROUSE

After reinserting the battery the phone powered on but hung at the blackview/android splash screen
After a short time… extremely small blue squares could be seen around the blackview logo text.

I was able to reboot the phone into twrp recovery and I did all kinds of wipes and restores to no avail
But noticed that there was no battery level indicated in twrp recovery? so I figured that the long thin circuit on top of the battery could be the issue?

Purchased and installed a battey…
Now when I connect the charger I get the same red led flickering faintly
I do get the charge animation on the screen but it sits at 0%
And after a short time… extremely small blue squares could be seen around the battery icon. like with the splash screen

So I figure… maybe the malfunction has corrupted some kind of battery monitoring partition?
I tried to reflash the phone with rom 20180308_s21v57c2k_jk_fsm program SP_MDT_v3.1712
but It refused to work
I tried everything.. cables, drivers… etc.

Then I tried a reflash with rom 20180308_s21v57c2k_jk_fsm program SP_Flash_Tool_exe_Windows_v5.1744.00.000

The flash was successful
The phone booted and presented the android welcome screen
And the phone is now charging
So some or all of these steps seem to have fixed my issue.
I hope this helps some of you guys out

Dear blackview admin when you lock threads with..

“Be sure you use the original cable with long plug and it is inserted correct.
Flashing can work also with empty phone.

If nothing helps exchange the device over seller”

And

“Hi there,
it really looks like a bad hardware fault. Unfortunately your only solution is to contact your seller for a replacement.

The only thing you can try before sending it back is to charge your device using another cable + the micro-usb/USB-C adapter.
This will exclude a cable fault.”

It prevents us from helping each other and finding real solutions.

Thanks for your precious feedback.
I rarely lock threads, I prefer marking them SOLVED and keeping them open, if spam and off-topic users allow it.
Sometimes spam and off-topic users force me to lock threads.
Thanks again ;)

Update
2 days have passed and the phone is still charging and hasn’t randomly shutdown
Everything seems to be working fine other than the load speaker
System notifications are badly distorted as well as people’s voices when using the loudspeaker in calls
Oddly enough playing loud music seems to be fine?

So if you have this problem with charging it might be worth buying a replacement speaker as well
Hopefully when mine arrives all my problems will be solved.
In total all 3 parts cost me around £35 including postage.
I’d say that’s reasonable :)

How do we do a flash on a completely dead phone? I have the exact issue you're describing currently.

@Vicarious Lithium-ion batteries must be stored in a charged state. If you buy a replacement it should come with a good 40% percent.

(Or if you’re nuts and have a fire extinguisher handy you could try jump starting it like I did )

Today I have a new problem :( and im still waiting for the speaker to arrive.

I put the phone flat on a table (without much force) > the screen scrambled up then went white and froze
When I reboot the phone > logo fine > pin entry fine > get to the home screen > scrambles up > goes white and freezes

Its probably because I haven’t glued the battery back in very well or put a ribbon cable on properly.
Im going to wait for that speaker to arrive before I open it back up again tho.
It had been working fine up untill today (other than the speaker issue)

Man dealing with this damn phone is frustrating. I'll buy the battery, and if this fix doesn't get the stupid thing going, it's going in the trash. Wasted enough money trying to get the piece of junk operational...

@Vicarious
Id still get a charging board aswell..
I can’t identify what the original problem was and they don’t cost much.
 ---------------------------------------------------------

Iv sorted the "scrambled then blank/white" screen issue.
There’s a metal bracket that sits on top of the ribbon connectors.. shaped like an L
The top right screw on that L bar seems to hold a spring connector down on the board beneath.I hadn’t tightened it enough so the connection was lose.

I also pulled my speaker out and found that a membrane had come lose allowing lots of metal dust to stick to the speaker. I cleaned it up the best I could with an ear bud and It’s made a huge difference.
I’m not sure what to do about that membrane.. Im thinking of cutting a rectangle out of medical tape and sticking that over the new speaker when it arrives. The design of that could be improved next time around Blackview :ugeek:

This phone may be a Frankenstein.... But I would buy it again over anything els on the market

You've got more patience than I. Two and a half months without the phone working, from a fault that was Blackview's doing, every expense has been out of pocket and the community has been the only source of useful information. The phone might've been nice when it was working, but I'll never be able to recommend Blackview to anyone in good conscience.
I already put in a new charging board, it did absolutely nothing. My battery just came in today, but given that I've basically only got one shot at this, can you tell me how to get the phone to boot in to recovery mode when it isn't turning on? My PC doesn't recognize it either.

Sorry for the late reply Vicarious

“Two and a half months without the phone working”

This is around the same time my phone was out of action :|

“The phone might've been nice when it was working, but I'll never be able to recommend Blackview to anyone in good conscience.”

For the price! This was a fantastic device when It was working.. But I admit I am now growing tired of issues on top of issues.. :?

My phone has started shutting down randomly for reasons that baffle me. I enjoy problem solving but I need my phone to be a phone. :|

“I already put in a new charging board, it did absolutely nothing “

As was the same for me... But im thinking the board may have malfunctioned causing problems further down the line. Now that it has been replaced you can rule it out as a problem. And a reflash brought it back to life for me.

“My battery just came in today, but given that I've basically only got one shot at this, can you tell me how to get the phone to boot in to recovery mode when it isn't turning on? My PC doesn't recognize it either.“

Ok im gonna do my best to help here :)

After the battery change the phone shows no sign of life? No leds,  no screen backlight?
With the drivers installed! your pc dose not recognise the device? and there's no changes at all in device manager?

Same problem. At one point the phone turned off and refused to turn on. When the power button is pressed, the approach indicator flashes red, but nothing happens. When you connect the charger, the charge indicator lights up and the approach indicator flashes nearby. Installed the driver, but the computer still does not see the smartphone. Does not even display in the Task Manager. I checked the battery - 4.2V. Charging too. How is the total replacement of the motherboard? Is it available separately? After all, if there was a problem with the power, the computer still saw the smartphone.
