BV8000Pro is overheating - CPU is at almost full speed most of the time

Hi all,
Several times I wrote is this site that my BV8000Pro is overheating. This is happening each time I turn on the screen to use the phone. There is no matter if I play games, browse the Internet or work with an application. After like a 10-20 minutes of work the phone is overheating to the point when all metal parts (the side panels and the back panel) are so hot that I cannot touch them. The display is also very hot and I cannot touch is with my fingers and I have to leave the phone with turned off screen so it can cool down.

I think the issue may be the CPU governor. I tested with several apps and they all show that after waking up the phone the CPU works like this:
- cores 1,2,3,4 are working at around 1.7 GHz
- cores 5,6,7,8 are working at around 2.4 GHz
This is happening all the time, no matter what the CPU load is (it is visible on the screenshots).
At 18% cpu load and on 90-100% cpu load it is the same.

Can someone with BV8000Pro please install a CPU monitoring app and report if the behavior of CPU Governor is the same?
Thanks in advance for that.

I am using the AIDA64 app, but many other apps are showing the same results.
Also AIDA64 reports that the CPU Governor type is "interactive", but because my phone is (still) not rooted I cannot see the governor parameters.

Admin, can you please comment on the CPU behavior?
I am currently with FW 20180124 but the phone behaves like this since the day I got it and it was with FW 20170804.

Hi there!

It definitely looks like an uncommon hardware fault.
Such issue has only a possibile solution: getting your device replaced under warranty by your seller.

But before doing that... some questions.

1) Did you perform a factory reset after the firmware update?
2) Did you update your device by flashing or OTA?

I don't think this is a SOLVED case, but it is your decision...

Admin, can you please explain what is the normal behavior of the CPU governor?
What is the proper behavior of the CPU clock in relation to the CPU load?

My phone was updated to 20171227 by flashing using the PC.
After that I made a factory reset.
Later I updated to 20180124 using OTA and I did NOT made factory reset.
I am sure the reset will not solve the issue, because it is there from the very beginning.

The question is what should be the normal behavior of the phone?
And also a request: if someone please can do the same test and tell me how their phone are controlling the CPU speed.
No seller will replace the phone because of such issue under warranty. They will say the phone is in fact usable.

The case is sadly "solved" because, as i previosly stated, overheating to such degree is definitely an uncommon issue wich, in addition, persist to firmware updates or factory resert. This points towards an uncommon hardware problem wich can't be solved here on the forums.
If your seller refuse to get your device back, unfortunately there's nothing else we can do.
I'm sorry.

By the way, a normal CPU behaviour doesn't include overheating while in idle.
A normal CPU is supposed to deep sleep when not used, or going at 600Mhz with light load.

I just wanted one more time to ask if someone can help me by installing a CPU monitoring program on their BV8000Pro and tell me how their CPU is working. I used AIDA64 and several other programs and they all show information similar to the pictures above. Does anyone have the same problem or is just me ?

Hmm, it looks like your cores 5,6,7 and 8 are at 2393 MHz (full speed) all the time (when woke up). Just like mine. Why is that? I have other phones (with mediatek chipsets) which are even disabling most of their cores when running light-weight applications like AIDA64. Just BV8000 Pro is having all its cores running all the time and half of them at full speed. So strange...

AIDA64 is flawed.
Check with the CPUSpy app and you'll see the real behaviour ;)

Well I am not sure I use CPU Spy correctly but it shows that the CPU is running at 1690 MHz as max speed which I guess is below the max speed of the MT6757 processor. Maybe it only shows the first cluster (cores 1-4). However I tried with CPU-Z and Kernel Adiutor and they all show information similar to AIDA64.

Admin, thank you for posting your pictures. At least now I know I am not the only one with "hardware fault".
