[SOLVED] Camera button not working - 20180124 updated installed

Fri Jan 26, 2018 8:47 am

Hello, I have a new BV8000PRO, bought yesterday, I've installed all the updates and the camera button is not working. Even with a button remapper app it is not recognized. Someone else with this problem?

I've tried long press to open app and short press to take photo, none of then works.

Hi there!
Did your camera button work before the update? If not, this issue may also be related to an hardware fault.
Did you perform a factory reset after the update? If not, perform it and report back.

Can anybody else confirm this issue?

I don't know if it worked before, the first thing I did was install all the incremental updates, and then start configuring and testing. I'd prefer to not lose all the configuration and apps, is there any test I can run insted of factory reset?

Considering that:

- You don't know if it worked before
- The button remapper app doesn't see it
- The issue is definitely uncommon

it really looks like an hardware fault.
I reccomend to contact your seller to have your device replaced under warranty. This will be the only solution.

By the way, before doing that, i suggest you to perform a factory reset just as a confirmation.
No other tests can be run.

Ok, there is no hurry, so by the moment I'll try:

-Update on my couple phone (same model), this night I can try and give feedback.
-Wait and see if there are anyone with the same situation.

Remember to perform a factory reset after each update!
I'll wait for your feedback ;)

Just in case you didn't try or know (sorry if this sounds stupid) in order to launch the camera app with the button, you must long press it, not just a single short press. I'm saying this because when I got the phone I thought it didn't work because of that. I just tried on my phone (updated yesterday to 20180124 firmware) and it works.

Then, if you want to take a photo when the camera app is open, the button only works on stock camera.

Yes, I've tried. So, the factory reset should be done from the menu options - backup and recovery - factory reset, or from recovery mode?

Both ways will work the same, your choice!
