I have noticed with this phone the amazon music application hangs, but does not hang with my other devices running the same version of android.

is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

I just installed such app to test it. It worked flawlessly, so the problem is not reproducible.
I think that your problem could be related to your app, device or your network. Try to unistall and reinstall the Amazon app and check if the problem solves.
