Back button is very intermittent on my new BV8000 Pro. Sometimes needing 4 or 5 presses to respond. Menu and home button work fine every time

Just update you device on the latest firmware and after that perform a factory reset: if you device isn't defective, the problem will be solved. Otherwise you'll have to contact your seller for a replacement under warranty.
