Re: [TRACKED AND INVESTIGATING, CULPRIT FOUND] Phone reboots (crashes) at night, startup sound will wake up everybody

I got my BV8000Pro in Oct 2017. It also reboots at least once a day, and is power hungry too - as per the other popular thread.

I am on v0.1_20170803_20171011-0929 package. I have updated to that using OTA.

It reboots itself at random, at least daily (sneakily when I have left the room) then sits quietly waiting for the startup unlock pattern. Meanwhile in that state, it doesn't receive calls.

Today, I began to attempt to update to one of the later patches. OTA does not detect a newer release than the one I have. I tried the manual process, and even as a seasoned IT professional, I gave up, it was too fiddly, downloading unsigned drivers, from webpages full of other decoy download buttons for toolbars and other nonsense. I felt sure I would break the phone or laptop or fill them with badware!

Thanks for working on these issues. I do hope they are resolved, because the phone is great other than the battery usage and reboot issue.

Restart problem with my new BV8000

Sat Jan 13, 2018 8:22 pm

Hello, I just bought a BV8000 (6 days ago on cdiscount.com), im quite satisfied about it except one embarrassing thing : the smartphone restart randomly, it happens at least one time per day. I have noticed that it reboot on his own, not even during intensive use and without touching it.
It is really annoying, i need to fix it.
thks for your help.

Hi Mike,

Once you install the drivers the rest is a breeze really, I too was reluctant but it was well worth it, a week has passed and not a single reboot other guys report the same.

This manual by Mino helped a lot https://drive.google.com/file/d/15-1vyR ... zEchI/view

I hope you manage to flash your BV!

Chris

Flash your phone to the latest version and you will be all right, use the manual below:

Thanks Chris, Mino's doc was most helpful. I did at least get to install the drivers without the Certificate issue, but then I get code 10 in device manager, cannot start the device. I've read up on code 10 and it talks about re-installing all sorts of usb bits and bobs - I'm not fancying breaking my windows machine... I think I will patiently wait for the lovely Blackview folks to push out the next OTA update ASAP.

i'd like to keep this thread on topic, but i want to say that getting the "code 10 error" in device manager after istalling the Mediatek drivers is normal: everything will work as it should, don't worry ;)

Now let's get back to the topic ;)

Anothe update on 20171219 firmware, my phone still doing nothing, but it doesn't restart from 258 hours. I know that when you are using phone it maybe different, but before this firmware update it never gets to 3 days without restart.

And it restarted a moment ago, so it lasts around 350 hours. It's not perfect, but I think acceptable.

On the other hand, mine didn't have any restarts before updating to 20171227 version, and I have now experienced two in the last 72 hours. If it stays like that, it's not such a big issue, but it's definitely weird

OTA won't work mate, neither will "local update" flashing with PC app is the only way to go.
