I can confirm that replacing the charge board has fixed my problem, and that it was not a firmware issue. 
I would like to say I'm sorry for blaming firmware, but in the end it was a broken/defective charge board.
All is good now !!

Solution what I found when my bv8000 pro does not charge battery. I tried to disassemble the phone, disconnect battery cable from board, wait couple of seconds, connect battery cable back to the board and mount the phone back. Bingo. Battery started to charge. What I noticed in my situation. Battery not charging after several times usage with not original chargers or after several trials to connect and disconect charger cable in short times. In my situation it happends sometimes once on month, sometimes once on week. Yes, it is not comfortable mount and dismount the phone every time, but is better than to wait help from BlackView guys. Maybe my solution will help somebody.

I'm also having this issue, phone will not charge since updating to 20180105-1104, also the same problem exists on 2018062921
I downgraded back to 20171227 to be sure that the phone wasn't at fault and yes, it's definitely a software issue.

Fyi I was one of the unlucky people who bought this phone with a faulty charging board - which I replaced with a new one already.

I have been having the same problem on my BV 8000 pro for a little over a week now. I am not very tech savy. so any help would be great. I cant charge my phone except when the phone is shut off. This started happening just after I updated my phone. I am unsure of which version I had versus which one I have now. But if someone can show me how to un-do it that would be wonderful.

I have a Blackview BV8000 Pro for a month. It worked correctly until it was updated approximately two weeks ago via OTA and stopped charging the battery. Now I have it at 14%. I have updated it to BV8000Pro_blackview_20171114, BV8000Pro_blackview_20171219, BV8000Pro_blackview_20171227, BV8000Pro_blackview_20180308 and Android 8.0 (BV8000Pro_blackview_20180308) according to the tutorial, doing a 'wipe data / factory reset' after each update, and it still does not load the battery.

I am testing with the original charger and cable, I have tested with a special compatible purchased charging cable for the BV8000 Pro, and in all of them the charging light is lit (red light), even in some ROM's the battery indicator is charged (for example in Android 8.0), but does not increase the battery charge.

Although it's under warranty, the seller has no more phones of this model and tells me that it was my fault to update via OTA, so I have problems to get my money back.

I have read this thread several times, I have applied what they say in it but it does not work for me, it still does not load.

Please, can anybody have of an alternative? I can still flash the phone.

What happens if I just do  reset? I have only had the phone for about a week before this happened> Will it go back to before I did my update?

In your case the issue is related to a faulty charging board.
Replace it and everything will get back to a working state
