He's probably talking about opening the app, not activating the shutter within the app.

i was editing "system/usr/keymap/mtk-kpd.kl" to

key 250 CAMERA


now shutter works

Is your phone rooted? If not, could you explain how you got to system/usr/keymap/mtk-kpd.kl on the phone please?
edit.....just seen your post in the "root" thread so I'm assuming you've rooted your phone to be able to do that :)

Would be great to add more stock options for the function button mapping, in order to have the possibility to link it with different functions (other apps, screenshots, custom in-app functions such camera shutter and so on)

Would be also great to add the same functions for the volume buttons (zoom in and out, display brightness and other system and in-app functions)

Can this be done with a NON-Rooted device?

Ehm, yes of course...
I was asking for an extended system keymap function, in order to set buttons for almost anything, not only camera functions XD

I was asking for an extended system keymap function, in order to set buttons for almost anything, not only camera functions XD

You can find apps for that too. ;)
