Hi,

i have found the camera in this phone to be very slow. you press the shutter then abut 1-5 seconds later (it varies every time) it will take a photo. i have change resolutions and all the other settings but it doesn't really help.

do i have to accept this is the worst camera i have had in a phone or is there a way to make it better?

I have the same issue. My experience is, it seems mostly light related. However, fge situations are anything but challenging. My wife's phone is a Sony experia Z mini and usually the time it takes me to get a photo of our 4 year old, she can take out her phone from the bag/pocket, turn it on, unlock it, start the camera app and frequently take the snapshot before i have managed to take the first picture.
I often have to press tge shutter button over and over again with the same delay described above.
(i am used to decent DLRs so i understand the difference between focusing and shutter...)
