Speaker auto lowering volume

my phone has had this really annoying problem since i bought it. these are the speakers, which vary the volume automatically, attenuating it. most of the time they completely reset it. can anyone tell me how to solve this problem? the phone is unusable! not even the speakerphone works !!!
