how to use Battery Charge Limit (root required)

Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:34 am

This is for those that have the phone rooted and charge every night. I Typically have plenty of battery life left at night so there is no point in charging the phone to 100% and wear the battery faster than I have to. With the app 'Battery Charge Limit' available on Fdroid or XDA you can set the phone to charge to only 80% or whatever amount you want.

Once the app is installed go to settings and turn on the configurable CTRL file option then hit the configure control data option. Put these options in:
path: /proc/mtk_battery_cmd/current_cmd
enable value 0 0
disabled value 0 1

those are zero space zero and zero space one

The phone will very slowly charge past the limit set in the app. So I set it to 78 and overnight the phone is usually on 80 or 81% This should keep the battery lasting a long time. I plan on keeping this phone for at least 2 years so keeping the battery healthy is important to me.
