Re: Root on BV9800 Pro

Mon Feb 10, 2020 5:25 am

I followed the instructions from https://www.getdroidtips.com/root-blackview-bv9800-pro/ and once finished I got the green ✓ in SP flash tools. I then ran a root checker and found root access not properly installed. Apparently something went wrong? I would like to be able to run a custom rom like lineage or AOSP in hopes to have a better Android experience and not have problems with Bluetooth connection and black screen on phonecalls.
Thanks for the help as I'm trying to learn.

Hi,
you can root it with Magisk :
Download your rom from : viewtopic.php?f=285&t=532354 (you can alternatively extract it with SP Flash Tool and WWR)
Download and install Magisk Manager on your phone : https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/rel ... v7.5.0.apk
Patch the boot image with Magisk Manager
Unlock the bootloader. (Wipe the phone! )
Flash the patched boot image with SP Flash Tool or Fastboot. (ONLY the boot image)
Reinstall Magisk Manager

Hi,
I have just got mine BV9800 PRO. I followed Your instructions but something seems not to be working well for me. Please note that phone is fresh and no boot loader or any other settings is changed when I did the following:
What I did by following Your steps: Installed latest Magisk, opened the app, it says "Magisk is not installed", so I click install, then "Download Zip Only"". After it is downloaded, I click again on install, then "select and patch file" and I choose the one that Magisk has just downloaded, but then I get error: "Unsupported/Unknown image format. Installation failed". I think I am doing something wrong, last time I rooted my previous phone was about 3 Years ago. Could someone help me? Please guide me how to root my BV9800 pro.
Installed late

Hello, can you be more specific about how to root it? Also how to update the rom from viewtopic.php?f=285&t=532354 ?

You don't need to update, your phone was shipped on this version. You only need this file to get the boot image and the scatter file.
There is a LOT of tutorial all over the Internet for each step. You can also use viewtopic.php?f=247&t=476742 for reference.

First off: hello everybody, and second: Problem with that is, those "LOTS" of tutorials are for other phones, though I did follow them, almost ended up bricking my phone because 1) some of the tutorials are for phones with removable batteries, they do not explain how to do this with a NON removable battery, and 2) The scatter file provided for the bv9800 not the other phone in the tutorial ended up giving me an error upon extraction of the boot.img file, which ended up unable to turn on my phone, as for the EEA and NON-EEA versions of the phone, European = EEA, Non European = NON-EEA, read it on another site, but can't be sure about that. I did turned on my phone by pressing the power button long enough that it turned off on it's own.

Using Flashtool, I downloaded the firmware from the phone. The WWR program divided the firmware into sections and pulled out a boot image from there. Magisk Manager made the patch file.
Unlock the bootloader via the developer menu. I flashed the patched boot image with Flashtool. After boot it complains that the boot image is unverified and bootloops. I fix the phone by flashing the original boot image.
What have I done wrong and how to booting from an unverified boot image?

I followed the steps but the phone refuses to boot because of a verified boot error.
The boot-message:
Bad State

Your device has failed verification and may not
work properly.
Please download boot image with correct signature
or disable verified boot.
Your device will reboot in 5 seconds.

Just did it! Followed Your guide and now have a rooted BV9800Pro, and not just rooted, but rooted with Magisk!!!
By the way, is there any TWRP or other custom recovery available? I want to create a full backup.
