Help replacing back cover

Hi,
I'm trying to replace the back cover of my phone. Does anyone have a guide or tutorial video? Even one for battery replacement would be super helpful.
If not, can I ask what the piece under the battery is? It's a sticky black square that has now shattered. It was under the battery and stuck to the old case, but the new case didn't come with it. I wasn't able to transfer it. I'm not sure if my phone will work without it. Maybe it was for wireless charging? If I knew what it was called, I could look for a replacement.
