I understand that Android 9 will not be available for the P60 version of the BV9600 Pro but can we at least get security updates for Android 8.1 ?

Yes, our team have made an OTA schedule of the BV9600Pro

So basically it's confirmed we've been lied to and no 9 for P60 original supporters?

Because the P60 hardware and components were fine-tuned to run on Android 8, and manufacturers are fast learning that it is impossible to guarantee hardware configurations can run future Android versions that exceed the parameters of the configuration the phone was built to.
If Blackview could safely upgrade your P60 to 9 without bugs they would have done so.

That's silly! The P60 wasn't built only for BV! There are a lot of other P60 phones from other manufacturers - here a list as example:

BV is not willing to update the "old" bv9600pro - you have to buy again (the new one) to get Pie!!! Not with me...

The upgrade is expensive ...to do it and to test it.

I have been running Android 9 on my bv9600 pro for a month and it is perfectly stable with exactly the same bugs as 8.1

So think again.

I have bought a Samsung smartphone and  a Huawei tablet, both of them have been updated very quickly to Android 9 ; moreover they have been patched many times for security patches ...
This is how a product is well supported !!
