[USEFUL] About updates...

Hello forum,
I gotta ask something:
is it normal that Pro Users of BV9500 got this update as "most recent"?
BV_BV9500Pro_V1.0_20180827
I read that "normal" BV9500 users are at
BV_BV9500_V1.0_20190320
How is it possible we never get updates regulary?
I don't even care that much about fixes for the software itself, since I personally don't have that much bugs left to fix, but for the security updates which are at 5th July of 2018 (!!!!)
Don't even try to answer with ".. but updates take long time to develop and adjust"
.. that's just not honest! Many other manufacturers can do it, why not Blackview?
Do you fire all your ressources in engineering and hardware and have nothing left for software and support?!
If you want to release phones and KEEP your customers so that they buy future products, have some maintenance of "older" phones.
At least the security udpates which are crucial for not getting hacked or exploited!
Please answer me why the developers of Blackview are unable to keep up updating their phones!
If the answer is another standard one, then this will be my very last Blackview phone and I promise, I will never come back!
Thanks!
dee~

I'm not a BV rep but I do know not everyone gets the OTA at the same time and mine only about a week ago became available. I don't recall what version was before 20190320, but I'm confident it was newer than 20180827. In fact, I only got my phone in late November 2018 and I did have an update after a month or two, so I know there was a version newer than August 27 because I remember being on the August 27 version after realizing my compass didn't work right.
I don't know how updates get rolled out though. Do they do it by carrier? Geographic area? IMEI of the phone? Any of these could be a factor. The trick, though, is figuring out what makes yours different that you haven't gotten even the prior update yet. Do you have a data plan? Do you use Wi-Fi when it's available? Are you behind a firewall?
I assume your phone isn't rooted (or you wouldn't be waiting for an OTA), but even a failed attempt to root could cause things to stop.
I assume you've done the obligatory factory reset three to twelve times, waiting 48 hours between each?

I copied the "update.zip" file during the update process for BV9500 (non pro), I backed up the file just in case the update process failed
if you want, please download the file
heredo a local update (zip) from the wireless update menu

Hello Tech Addict,
in fact, the update server has not been available for me and probably many other users,
but that issue seems to have been fixed and I was now able to update to 20190320,
which includes security patches from 5th of january 2019 - at least something!
And until now, I have no serious problems with my phone - and just btw, I never did a facory reset and my phone never had any huge issues.
I just noted that all the Blackview/Android "Stock" apps like file manager and photo gallery are now being replaced with google pendants.
Not that I really care, just noticed

For me is exactly the same: i'm waiting to perform the factory reset for when some strange issue will pop up, but never happened until now.
All stock apps have been replaced, apart from the camera app (which now has more options)

As stated many times, OTA updates don't reach every user at the same time.
These steps may help your phone getting updated:
1) Remove SIMs and MicroSD cards from your phone.
2) Perform a factory reset
3) Set phone language in English
4) Connect to WIFI networks (so disable data connection)
