Battery Optimisation?

I've recently started using my new BV9500 and am having some issues with apps closing/going to sleep when the screen is switched off. I have gone into "Settings" and Battery Optimisation and turned off all the optimisation settings. I have also then clicked the "three dots", viewed the apps, and changed the apps to "Do not optimise" for the selection but it's still not working as expected.
For example, I use the following apps:
Microsoft Outlook
Gmail Email App
Podcast Republic
Deezer
If the app is open and the screen is on, then it works (Music plays, email comes through etc), however if the screen goes off (After 10 seconds or whatever), then no email comes through and music playback stops. How can I fix this, it was fine on previous Android phones and I didn't have to mess with settings. Email (Outlook) is pretty critical as I receive alarms via email and it only checks for emails when I open the app unfortunately and not in the background (Using Activesync, so it's not a push/pull issue)

hi there!
In addition to what you done, please:
1) go to settings-> smart assistant -> power save manager and whitelist apps you don't want to close when phone has its display switched off.
2) Long press the android "MENU" button (near the HOME button) -> enter the whitelist and add the apps you don't want to close when phone has its display switched off.

Thanks for the ideas, I will try them now. I can do option one fine. But I can't do option two, when I hold down the "Menu" button I just get the option to use split screen? DO I need to perform both steps, or just one? Thanks.

One of the 2 is enough

Unfortunately whitelisting apps didn't work. If I turn off the optimisation feature completely it works fine.
Another issue I have is that MS Outlook plays email notifications very softly (and the LED doesn't flash) when new emails come in, despite having all the options correctly configured. If I turn up all the other volumes then everything is VERY loud, but Outlook notifications are still soft. Any thoughts? People complaining of this on the MS forums too.

You can also try to go to settings->memory->memory cleanup and select apps you want to be active in background when phone display turns off.
About the MS outlook issue, Microsoft have to fix it. There's nothing we can do for that.

There's no such option in bv9500 or bv9500pro ... Oreo 8.1

I have been troubleshooting issues with Push notifications being delayed or not coming through & also notification sound issues. I believe I have found solutions to both but want to test for a few days to confirm it did indeed work. I will post a new thread with how exactly to fix it.
