Hello! Does anyone know if the BV9500 Pro supports Alt Mode? I think (from my ignorance) that this is an important condition to fulfill in order to be able to mirror via USB-C.

I have never heard of Alt Mode myself. What exactly is it?

The HDMI Alt Mode for USB Type-C connector will allow HDMI-enabled source devices to utilize a USB Type-C connector to directly connect to HDMI-enabled displays, and deliver native HDMI signals over a simple cable without the need for protocol and connector adapters or dongles.

This enables two of the most popular solutions for connectivity to come together—the small form factor, reversible, and multi-purpose USB Type-C connector being adopted by smartphones, tablets and PC products, and the HDMI connector, which is the leading display interface with an installed base of billions of displays. Almost 290 million HDMI-enabled display devices are expected to ship in 2016, including projectors, monitors and 100 percent of flat panel TVs.

HDMI Alt Mode will support the full range of HDMI 1.4b features such as:

Resolutions up to 4K
Surround sound
Audio Return Channel (ARC)
3D (4K and HD)
HDMI Ethernet Channel (HEC)
Consumer Electronic Control (CEC)
Deep Color, x.v.Color, and content types
High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP 1.4 and HDCP 2.2)
It’s up to manufacturers to choose which HDMI features they support on their products with USB Type-C.

Great information, thanks. Once my cable comes in, I will report back if it works or not.

I got my cable today & it isn't working. The TV shows the connection as active but when you go to it, it says no signal. I'm thinking it may be a setting in the phone somewhere?

I've read that some USB-C adapters only work one way.  Have you tried flipping the connector over?

Otherwise, I've noticed my USB-OTG adapters all have a problem with this phone, as does one of my non-BV charging cables.  They work perfectly with my LG G5, no issues at all..  I wouldn't be surprised if it's a design flaw in the BV USB-C port.  It's not a fitment issue -- they fit fine.  Unlike the 3.5 mm audio jack, where you've noted the rubberized shell is too thick, the USB-C does fully insert and feels snug as it should.

Yes & it does only work one way as I can tell it's outputting a signal but my best guess is that the cable isn't covering it to a format/resolution that the TV can recognize.

I wanted to come back after seeing something on a separate screen mirroring topic with Android phones. Unfortunately, I don't have the cable adapter that I had gotten originally with this post anymore to try.

In the other video, people had to go into the developer options & enable USB debugging. Then, the screen could be shared. Not sure if this will fix it but if some other poor soul is stuck with this phone for a while & wants to do the same thing, they can pick up where I left off.

I'll try to find the adapter I bought a while ago and test it with the option you mention (USB debugging active).

I tried with the adapter I had, turning USB debugging on, flipping the USB-C connector upside down, without any luck. I'm pretty sure that this phone doesn't support Alt-mode.
