Re: Walkie Talkie Information

Watching the above video shows options in the device for different countries, can anyone tell me what options are available for Australia?

Do you refer to just the walkie talkie? If so, the options are the same. Same software (Intercom) is used in all regions. They include an Australian FRS (I could be wrong but I suspect these are your country's UHF Citizen's Band) as well as frequencies for China, USA, South Africa, maybe one or two others.

You can add "device areas", but I have found that the be risky. Once you go over four or maybe five areas, you risk the app not initializing and having to delete the app's data to get it back, which resets all your device areas, too. I always delete all the areas except the FRS for my country (US) then add an area for local amateur radio frequencies/repeaters and another for general "play" like listening to local TV producer backstage mics or the local fire/rescue department. Be careful to put in a different frequency for transmit though, if you do this. That PTT button is too easy to trigger.

Thank you, the Australian UHF CB is at 477 MHz and has 80 channels, would be great if this is included in the radio, the other question I have is the DMR radio TEIR 2 with dual time slots?

Ah, sorry, hope I didn't get your hopes up. No, this stops at 470 MHz -- no higher, unfortunately. I do recall seeing "AUS FRS", thought they were the same service for you.

These are *NOT* Tier 2 DMR. I am hoping a future firmware update provides this; the radio has everything for DMR except time slots.

Unfortunately, there is absolutely zero documentation for this radio, at least not in English.

UHF CB is not a real issue but only TEIR 1 is a killer for me.

Thanks again for sharing your impressive level of knowledge on this topic.
I'll probably go ahead and purchase the phone anyway. The combination of ruggedness, IP68 and battery life seems to make it very well suited for outdoor life.

Yeah, I wish I'd known more, too. It's also underpowered, with at maximum 1.45 Watts of output on high power, and only 0.25 to 0.33 on low.

On the bright side, it can still do analog if you have such repeaters locally, and the removable antenna with an industry standard connector is a definite plus, especially if you're into experimenting with antennas and low power, or perhaps external power amplifiers. For me, it's just having it as a kind of "off-grid emergency secondary communication medium", though I don't like associating this with the concept of being "off-grid" with its apocalyptic connotations the phase has garnered here in the States.

>>Looks around, confused<< If you're talking to me, I'll take the compliment and thank you for it. But I just twist the knobs, push the buttons, and take the notes, LOL!

Good luck with your purchase, I'm confident you won't be too displeased with its features. ;)

V section/vhf walkie talkie

Sat Jun 08, 2019 6:07 pm

Hi,

I just purchased the bv9500 pro and it arrived yesterday.
One key reason I purchased it is it said it could do vhf, since I need this for my job.
Ive been trying to get vhf frequencies but can't and now everyone is saying it can't do it. Even though in the booklet that comes with the phone it says it can. Photo attached.

Can someone please help me get the vhf frequencies!
Mainly around 156MHz

Thanks in advance
