New BV 9500 Pro PTT Button not working.

Thu Mar 26, 2020 1:10 am

Hello, I just received my brand new BV 9500 Pro today. I like the phone a lot, but I am having one small problem. The PTT button does not appear to work. When I press it from the home screen, it does not launch the "Intercom" app. If I launch the app manually, only the on screen transmit button works, but there is no response from the PTT button in the app.

I know the phone "sees" the button, because if I press it while the phone is going to sleep (screen dims) it wakes back up.

Does anyone know why my PTT button is not working? Thank you!!!

To turn on the function in the phone settings, you can use the PPT button function.

I'm way late on this reply. Google keeps marking franchen emails as spam.

Look about a year or so ago, back when this model was new, and you'll find a thread where most of us were annoyed that we'd pull the phones out of our pockets and find the intercom app running, draining the battery. It was determined the ptt button was too easy to press inadvertently and so a developer option hack was made to the production OTA image to disable that feature. It can still be enabled.

You'll need to enter developer options in settings (Google it), scroll almost all the way to the bottom, and there's an option.... Crap, I forget what it's called and my BV hasn't worked in a year since I tested its waterproofness. But it's some kind of "always listening" kind of setting. If you enable "intercom", you're enabling the PTT button to launch the app.

Like I said, the default was changed to disable because it annoyed so many owners. YMMV.
