BV9500 Plus

Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:01 am

Hello Blackview-Administration,

I just noticed the upcoming BV9500 Plus which is in fact a better model of the BV9500 with a Helio P70 instead of a P23 processor.
But it also has Android 9.0, which leads to my question:

Will BV9500 and BV9500 Pro users get Android 9.0 as well?
I can't remember that my BV9500 Pro ever got a major update...

Thanks,
dee~

This captured my eye.

Same shell, same basic features, newer processor.

Admin: Will the motherboard of the plus mate up with the daughtercards of the pro? That would be an easy upgrade, and considering my pro is inoperative due to your false claim of it being waterproof, a motherboard replacement may already be in the cards for me.

Sorry, BV9500 Pro can not be updated to Android 9.0.
Is the current version running stable?

It's not a question about stable or not, it's about new features and mostly about security.
If you'd constantly roll out security patches for older phones, I might not even bother about major releases, so I really hoped there will be android 9 on BV9500(Pro).
The fact that it won't come now is not really satisfiying me as a loyal customer and therefore my next phone will be another one but definetly not a Blackview phone,
since I'm not supporting the way you guys handle older devices. It's not about rolling out phones with new software, it's about maintaining what you get. Quality over quantity.
Please, think again.
If not for me, then at least for your other customers.

I don't know what your experience with the various brands of rugged phones is, but it's extremely rare that a company will upgrade a phones O/S beyond that which it was shipped with. It's also rare that a released rugged phone will get security updates. AGM, Doogee, Ulefone, CAT, Blackview, they all operate like that. Blackview is actually one of the better companies in this respect. They have a support forum, they pass on bug reports to the engineers, and patches are released eventually. But I don't think we will see Android 9 or 10 on any of the phones already out.

The hardware in all phones is tuned to run the Android system they ship with. New software can create circuit demands for hardware pathways that don't actually exist in the phone.

And that creates endless bugs, complaints and heartache.

Don't keep asking for Android 9 upgrades to existing Android 8 phones. Trust me, if you knew the grief it will cause you, you wouldn't ask for it.

I understand your point of views, but as I said, if it's not possible to upgrade to a major release (Android 9 or 10),
then at least release security patches which are highly important nowadays.

What's the use of a phone with a patch level from january 2019 when there are security problems, potentially damaging the phone or risking of losing data?
