Question: BV9500 = BV9500 Pro?

Tue Jul 23, 2019 1:43 am

I have read the rules/guidelines for this forum. If I did not follow the rules/guidelines, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi!

So I just got my BV9500 today.

Looking on this forum, I found this one. I was wondering if the BV9500 is considered as the BV9500 Pro?

Thanks!

I've noticed also that there is no non-pro forum, only pro. Is there a reason for this?

I am sorry for the confusion in my post.

Let me rephrase my question:

I meant to ask if this forum (BV9500 Pro) is OK for posting about BV9500 and BV9500 Pro?

This is what I meant by my post!

I'm so sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for wording this better than me, Tech Addict! :)

Actually, if there is a problem with bv9500 pro (aside of walkie-talkie function) there is the same problem with bv9500. One has 2gb ram and 64 gb space more than the other(and the walkie-talkie). And depending of the system update you're on, different codes to access some hidden menus. Few months ago I flashed the "pro version" rom on my bv9500 (in a desperate try to find a fix for cell signal) and it worked fine.

I wondered if the non pro would run the pro ROM without issue. Good! And I assume you didn't discover it actually had the radio bits, just disabled in the non pro ROM? I would wonder if it actually would cost enough to include the one or two chips necessary that they would have them deliberately left out as I have seen features simply disabled in ROM before rather than omitted in hardware (for instance to permit import into certain locales). I had wondered if that may have been the case with the non pro.

Hi, I had a thought about this... It might worth a try. It seems, from what I could see, that you only need to find a way to mount the antenna (in a water-proof way) and where to solder the wires on motherboard. The app is there and opens but I could not test anything.
But then I also have two midland g7 pro that work on 0.5/3 watts AND a baofeng uv5-rtp (1/4/8 watts) so I won't spend too much time for such mod.

Similar situation here, it was more than an idle curiosity to begin with but after buying a Baofeng UV-B5 I see how little use the BV's built-in really is. I wouldn't waste any time on it.
