[Problem] Network lookup issue

Mon Mar 11, 2019 5:19 pm

I use an app to control my desktop pc with my smartphone.
For that to work, the pc has to find the phone via it's ip address.

When I create a new successful WLAN connection
(search / loopup, password, store, connect),
my pc can "ping" the phone and gets a response.

But when a WLAN connection is already stored
+ not active and I enable WLAN
+ it connects successfully to my LAN with the same ip address,
"ping" (or everything else) fails without a reason.

In order to make it work again, I'd have to disable WLAN,
remove the stored connection settings, search for the WLAN again,
type in the password again and wait for a connection.

Anyone else has the same issue?

P.S.:
"com.mediatek.ims" keeps crashing since the last firmware update.
No idea if that is related, since I have no idea what that is even used for.

Did you perform a factory reset after your phone got updated?

Also:
When I connect the phone to pc via usb cable and enable usb tethering (which creates a "virtual" ethernet connection), I can always get a useful connection.
When I then enable WLAN on the phone to my router, I use my phone as a repeater (kinda) and it works (incl. internet access) on pc.

So the problem only seems to happen when reenableing an already stored WLAN connection.

Update:
after another factory reset and lots of testing I found out,
that network lookup works fine with WLAN when connected
to a 2.4 GHz band. But when the phone is conneced via
5 GHz band, network lookup does not work.

Workaround for now would be to use seperate SSIDs
for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band to prevent automatic
connection to 5 GHz.
