App in background dosen't work

Hi,
I do not recive the  notification if the apps are not open (screen on).
Gmail emails arrive to me an hour later.
I have always used oruxmap to record the path during the run but if I use oruxmap with the bv9500 I have to keep the screen on, if is in the background it does not record the GPS position. I have the same problem with other apps, it seems that the background apps can not work.
Aby suggestion?

Try Settings>smart assistant>power save manager          ............and then tick the apps you want to keep running in the background

I have a 5800 Pro, so the fix might not work with a 9500 Pro, but here's how I fixed background sync on mine:
