Band 4 (LTE/4G)

Is there any way this band can be enabled?
My carrier delivers 4G connections through this band, otherwise I'm stuck at the very unreliable and almost unusable speeds of just 2G.
The screenshot I attach here is taken from the phone's "Engineer Mode" (Telephony -> Band Mode) which shows the available band modes, unfortunately the one I need, band 4 (enclosed in red), is greyed out (tapping it does nothing).
I suspect this is a hardware limitation, but I want to be sure that there's nothing that can be done without requiring highly advanced expertise, equipment, and resources.
