Oreo running stable?

Thu Oct 04, 2018 5:46 pm

Maybe also interesting to know  if  people have Oreo running good and stable?  what for me personally is important the battery  ..i see already a few topics about battery and charge issues ..and after almost the last update from Android 7  it was for me solved the battery drain problem. so maybe i will try Oreo but i still doubt if i wait until the major problems are solved .i am curious if people already have it running as good as it can be.

I have oreo running and stable except for the battery drain problem and some other issues like the notification led always green for all the notifications and sometime the screen remains lighted on since I press the power button.
With the battery drain problem I can survive, in fact the battery has almost 1 and half day of life if I'm not playing, else I havr to plug the power supply at dinner...

Hi papapedrox.. seems pretty stable to me ..although the screen does not turn of automatic this can be a drainer ...the message light is not a problem it does not affect the overall function or performance.. and battery live looks like the same as mine is now! (still android 7) so this looks fine to me ..ill await a few more reactions before i do the update .and again  guy's i am curious if anyone have it stable,of course there are a few topics about all these issues so i am Not going in to more details  ..but thanks for the reply  papapedrox..if any one have it as good as it is .. with a minor problem please be my guest and i am happy to read your reply ,

It is not unstable (it will work) but it is not bugless (see dedicated Oreo section).
Battery drain is real (30% battery life loss in idle compared to android 7).
Personnal advice: keep the last 7.0 update.

To Areon i know this of course bugs cause problems did i say it does not work?? .i work with computers from amiga area  until now  32 year work as a engineer now these days i work in the professional coffee machines with software windows android linux etc so i can mannage .. and major problems can cause unstable behaviour after a few android 7 updates my charger become very hot and even smell that is unstable. people report at some time the restart for no reason i also have this problem a few updates back ..in my opinion that is unstable behaviour..

so lets say bug free and stable no major trouble..

Stable is as relative notion... I've been using an "unstable" release of LineageOS for months now and I find it acceptable (and waaaaay mor stable than pretty much any BV8000 ROM). Hence my answer. No need to react like you did...

I ran Oreo for some time and I definitely didn't find it stable nor bug free. It's a rushed version that should have never been released. It was released way too early and needs huge improvement. Needless to say I downgraded to Android 7, way more stable. I wish we could have further development, but since Blackview will still refuse to release the source code, there's no way the many good developers out there can help. There are tons of custom roms which could be adapted to this phone if the source code was made available. I've seen many Chinese manufacturers release their source codes when they couldn't give good enough support to any of their terminals (some even do it from day one), and Blackview could definitely benefit from that. Their image would hugely improve.

List of bugs/stability issues I experienced (I'm not the only one, and I'm sure there are more I didn't notice, since I ran Oreo for just 2 to 3 days):

1) Button blacklight not working. And don't tell me nobody at Balckview noticed. This is not a bug that can go unnoticed.
2) Way bigger battery drain
3) Adaptive brightness not working well. It's impossible to see the screen under sunlight. And even if you manually raise the brightness yourself, it doesn't help much
4) Some apps which work on Android 7 appear as incompatible inside Google Play Store on Android 8, and even refuse to install if you sideload them.
5) Camera focus doesn't always work (at least the red/pink issue seems fixed).

These are not things you can live with. It's not that the phone works fine but has some minor issues. It looks like a beta version of the firmware (in fact, it's almost the same as the beta versions that leaked on Needrom) and should have been released later. Someone at Blackview wanted us users happy, but took the wrong path.
