Gummy plug interfering with speaker quality

Hi, it seems strange, but I noticed that closing completely the USB stopper located at the bottom of the phone reduce dramatically the audio quality of the upper speaker, making a voice conversation metallic and poor overall. If I open it even slightly, quality is back to optimal level. This isssue is always reproducible at any moment.
How is it possible?! There should be nothing in a gummy plug to interfere with a speaker at the opposite of the phone!
