I tried both methods and the transfer never started
Checksum was good
The only issue I had was at first my PC say the phone was a blackview 8000 pro, then it said phone not recognized.
I tried it with the phone off and plugged in and with the volume up button pressed until I got the menu
Any advice to get the transfer to start?

be sure to STRICTLY follow the tutorials posted at the beginning of the topic.
If you can, try also on another PC.

I cleared everything, fresh downloads and driver install...it still did not work.
Do you have a link to linux?

Please carefully read the tutorials posted in the first post. The posted drivers works also on WIN10!

I got it to update.\
I was trying the sp flash tool...nothing was installing
I went to look at the phone to confirm it was in the boot menu and accidentally hit the power button and that got it started.

Has anyone else had to tap the power button to get it to start?

In order to update using SP Flash Tool the phone must be powered off and unplugged. First, you choose the scatter file and the upgrade mode, hit the download button  and then you connect the phone, still powered off. If you always do it that way, you should have no problems to install

I did that and it didn't work.  It was not until I tapped the power button that it worked
