It really looks like an hardware fault, but before sending your device back to your seller for a replacement, update it to the latest firmware (20171219) and then perform a factory reset. Once done these steps, report back!

My phone has the same problem.

I have installed latest updates (20170803) and done a factory reset but the problem continues.

The phone was working well until a few days ago.

How can I fix this problem? Is the phone safe to use ?

Looking forward to a reply because I really like this phone.

Hi there!
Unfortunately your fingerprint sensor got an hardware fault and needs to be replaced.
I suggest to contact your seller to have your device replaced under warranty as soon as possible.
