Yes, a firmware downgrade (flashing) should fix such problem and shouldn't require a full battery for that, but if you don't want to risk you can open your device and charge it externally.... and then perform a firmware downgrade.

...and what version of ROM it will be? is it the latest one?

You can downgrade to every firmware from today to the 20171114 one

Can you post a picture to view the connection of the battery....there is a video on the web for ..how to...

I'm still waiting the chargeboard and the alligator cable, now the phone are good like paperweight...I hope that come back to run as a phone...

Blackview knows the issue since the beginning, and it's working to a fix.
Yeah, your solution to charge it is legit and will definitely work.
Just remove the battery and connect the + with +, - with - and everything will be good.
It's just a battery, wich behaves like all the batteries

issue is tracked, so a fix will definitely come. No deadlines at the moment, unfortunately.

same problem here did 05-03-2018 OTA update v01_20170803_20180228-1557  ..
what i find out:
original charger no problem at all on or off!
alliexpress charger and cable looks identical? as the one out the box with phone itself. does not charge any more? except if the phone is off
another charger eq samsung s3 and iphone and a view other brands dont work any more .only if the phone is off they will charge??
orginal cabel with another brand charger or the alliexpres no result.same story only if the phone is off they will charge??
orginal charger with alliexpress cable it charge fine 
after all i did a factory reset no result ?
ans strange the alliexpres charger?? and all the other brands chargers where 5volt so this is also weird with the alliexpress charger what is going on with this charger?? besides the update problem
