Re: BV8000 Pro - Weak Radio/Signal Strength?

I would make the point that if your J7 is giving you consistently usable signal at -110dB or -114 you are very lucky...most phones treat that as no bars...but you should try a few different signal check apps which can give you strength readings even if the phone is zeroed out...run them on the Blackview and see what signal level they are finding

From that thread link it appears CC Network have to actually register your IMEI numbers before your cards will work in the Blackview on their towers:

The settings won't work unless you...

I just want to emphasize a couple of points already made in this thread. I spent a good deal of time attempting to get various APN settings to work on two identical phones. I had MMS working, but not LTE on my own phone, but the same settings entered on my wife's phone did not give her either MMS or LTE.

Finally I read this thread more carefully and saw a couple of crucial points I had previously skipped over:

1. No matter what you do, you won't get LTE unless support at CC sets that option for your phone or phones on their end. Without that, you will be stuck with 3G or HSPA/HSPA+. Call support and specifically ask that they turn on LTE for the specific LTE-capable phone(s) you have on your account.

2. You really do have to start with a fresh, new APN entry. Changing values on an existing one probably won't work. Don't waste your time, just create a new one and change just the specific settings mentioned in this thread. Don't sweat the last one, MVNO Value. With a fresh APN, that value should have nothing in it, which is fine. If you screw up somehow, start from scratch with a new APN entry. Really.

Once I followed these two essential steps, everything quickly started working as it should.

All to no avail. However, I cannot select the "preferred network" from the long list but can change the 'type (4g/3g/26/auto)'..none of which provided positive results.
Perhaps the radio in the J7 is (even slightly) stronger than the BV stock radio? I understand that the signal quality isn't the greatest to begin with but I can take the intended sim for the BV, install it in the J7 and make calls....

I originally had to add a new APN for ST, per their instructions.. Deleting it, re-adding it..all to no avail. Does the APN only control mobile data? I'll go over the APN link and give suggested changes a shot but I am not optimistic - I feel the problem is (stock hardware??) radio strength but I am by far no expert on the matter and would love to be wrong... I also wonder if i would obtain better results with the BV9000...

Question: At&T tells me that I would have a much better signal if I went directly with their service instead of Straight Talk. I fail to see the logic in that statement, knowing that ST is using the AT&T towers in my area; what's the difference?

Considering all the above, and the fact that your problem is definitely not common, i can see only 2 possibile problems and solutions:

1) Your network is not compatible with the device: contact your phone carrier for a solution (if exists...)
2) Your device is faulty: contact your seller for a replacement.

These solution are not awesome, but i can't see any other solution at the moment for your issue.

Do you think I may have better results if I upgrade to the BV9000 Pro?

Easy way to test...buy a prepaid SIM and check the claim. BV also works on T mobile.

First i would try, as neville said, a prepaid At&T SIM just to see what happens.
