[TRACKED] Quality control alert - missing rubber 0-rings risk water damage

Tue Jan 23, 2018 12:36 am

Blackview Admin, please alert factory that they are currently churning out phones missing o-rings from the four torx screws on the back cover.

I have opened two BV8000's to service in past two days, and each has been missing one o-ring.

Needless to say neither of these phones will survive an immersion test.

It would be good if Blackview could immediately make avail packets of the o-rings from its Aliexpress store so customers can check and fix before causing their phones water damage.

And tell the factory to do better QC...two units across my desk in 2 days...shouldn't happen.

Admin says there's no need for o-rings around the 4 screws..For the sim slots we have a gasket.
Not sure about the design, mine too is without the 4 orings, the 4 holes have a golden material, I had prefer rubber to seal.

EDit: oh sorry, I re-read your post, do you refer to the main body or to the sim slot protection?

Hi Neville, thanks for your feedback. I'll send it to the engineer team!

Ghost, the 4 TORX screws of the BODY NEED an oring seal, while the 4 philips head screws of the SIM TRAY don't (the SIM TRAY cover is sealed by a big blue gasket, and it's good.)

Thank you admin, I re-read carefully the thread and edited my reply, I was thinking about the sim slot, not the body.
This means that the 4 screws on the sim slot do not communicate with the main board? Are they screwed on a dead end body?

I saw that on mine also there was a missing O-ring on one of the four back cover screws. To be more specific the top left as you see it from behind. Surely a problem on quality control or on assembly department.

A friend of mine also bought the BV8000 PRO and has this issue of a missing ring on the right side of the phone, the bottom screw. The phone was also dropped in water but got stuck in a bootloop. My actual thought is that some water got inside the phone and damaged the cable to the power button and camera button. What solutions would you have for me since the phone is actually advertised as waterproof?

Just open it and let it dry. It should work again ;)

So I just bought one of these things today and, of course, one of the o-rings is missing. Does anyone know the exact size (ID and thickness) needed?

Yeah, on my BV8000pro it is missing too. I'm tempted to buy a cheap broken one of the enet. But then I think 20 Buck's for one O-Ring is too much. So I I'm punching a little shim out of a rubber patch. It should do it's job to.
