I would make the point that if your J7 is giving you consistently usable signal at -110dB or -114 you are very lucky...most phones treat that as no bars...

In my bedroom I can receive calls with my BV8000 and a -115 to -120dB signal ;-)

Considering all the above, and the fact that your problem is definitely not common, i can see only 2 possibile problems and solutions:

1) Your network is not compatible with the device: contact your phone carrier for a solution (if exists...)

I can confirm this is a real possibility. Here in France, the "Free Mobile" carrier require your IMEI to be registered in their database for you to have LTE. All the phones they sell are ok (obviously...) but some not-so-mainstream phones (like BV or others) do not. They don't tell you how to get your IMEI registered or if it is even possible, so the easiest way is to change carrier.

TL;DR : It's a moronic carrier thing, not BV's fault !

I would have liked to know that earlier myself, so let this fact be known ;)

Gearbest offered to replace the phone...I'm probably going to pay the difference and upgrade to the BV9000 and hope for better results. After researching AT&T, I went to their prepaid service and I have the same exact results..no "priority of service / better signal" as they claimed... I called them again and was told my service would be spotty out here, despite their previous claims...and they tried to sell me on a postpaid account, under the same premise of a better signal...lol
I think if I could enable wi-fi calling on the BV, that would be a good solution for me, yet I cannot locate the wi-fi calling feature on my BV9000.. Does anyone have any experience with this?

So your carrier was a big part of the problem, as we tought. To keep your thread on topic, i'm closing it and tagging it as solved. ;)
For other questions, please open another thread. Have a good day ;)
