I would not do it on my device. But maybe you could disassemble the plastic piece to see if there is enough material to safely make the modification without loosing the waterproof capabilities.

I could order some hardware to make some adapters. I can only find long jacks in bulk so I'd need at least 15 people interested (cost would be around 10€ shipped worldwide). If you are, say it here, I'll make a list.

Unfortunately it's not a real solution to the problem. And 10 EUR is not a cheap price (but I understand if you're making it by hand).

I'd consider the problem to be solved if one could buy an adapter.

It should be given with the phone, however.
