G - poor signal 2G (GPRS) - internet speed 56-112 kbit/s
E - better signal between 2G and 3G (EDGE) - internet speed about 400-1000 kbit/s

4G - best signal 4G (LTE) - internet speed 100-1000 mb/s

Small marks Ee means you are in roaming, if only one mark such as G, E, 4G is in your operator and if display shows Gr, Er, or something else you are in roaming with other phone operator.
