P2 Android 7 Issues

Thu Nov 23, 2017 9:52 am

Hello!

I was the proud owner of a P2 until I dropped int and screen smashed. I was so happy about that phone and the way it went, Android 6, battery lasts two days, fast and no crashing... excellent phone! And I went and bought a second P2 to replace the one with broken screen.

Android 7 is rubbish! Battery doesn't last, apps crash all the time, I have to reboot my phone all the time. Sometimes even crashes when I unlock the screen! THere is hardly any signal coverage, all the time signal loss. Terrible phone! You ruined it with the latest update!

OTA does not work, I only have Build number P2_Blackview_20170619 yet you annonce different and later ROMs on this site. I try to download and use with MAC computer and no solution! Only for PC! Copying file does not work because you download file and its NOT A ZIP!!!!

Blackview, get your act together!

Hello jordimussol,

I am sorry to hear you dropped your phone. Unfortunately the Flash tool to re-flash the ROM are only for Linux and Windows and there is not surprisingly no support from Mediatek for Apple computers.
It is also advisable to not restore your apps from Google or locally when you change the Android version, but better completely re-install them from Google Play store. The symptoms you describe happen very often when using apps from an older OS version.

What you could try in first place is to reset your phone completely, but please make sure to backup all of your data first, as it gets lost.
wipe data/factory reset in recovery (this will delete your data/settings):
- Power off and then press Power and Volume up together for around 10 Seconds
- be sure that the little arrow points on recovery (select with volume up, enter with volume down)
- Then the open android with red triangle+"no command" is shown press Power and Volume up together again
- wipe data/factory reset

or via the settings menu in Backup & Reset choosing Factory data reset.

This runs a factory reset. But please be aware that all you data gets lost, so please backup them in Google or locally.

Another possibility would be to run VMWarePlayer on your MAC. This installs a virtual machine on which you can install any Windows or Linux OS where you can then use the SP FlashTool to re-install the ROM and if you like the older Marshmallow (6.0) version you seem to prefer.

I already had several weeks problems with android 7, freezes, sometimes does not answer the touch and still do not solve the microphone, should send an update by ota and fix those problems as it becomes too annoying to turn off forced please. :x

Hi david_ortiz,

- does the freezing and the touch panel reaction time get better after a restart?
- What is your issue with the microphone? Could you please explain?

Concerning the first point, could you please restart the mobile in safe mode and see if the issue persists? To do so please follow this:

- Press/Hold Power button until power menu shows up
- Tap and Hold Power off option until a little window pops up where you choose "ok"
- Choose OK to reboot in safe mode
Please note that after this you need to place you widgets again on your screens as they will disappear.

The mobile will then start in safe mode and you can use it very basic, i.e. no user apps are started. But interesting if there is a difference then.

the problem still persists in android 7, has many bug that should be corrected urgently as well lose customers, for example to occupy a while the phone back to home the vibration of the touch disappears and trying to turn off nose can even have it pressed for several seconds and ahy just works well, is too annoying without counting other problems also that the system has 7.0

Hi david_ortiz98,

I am not quite sure I understand correctly. Did you try safe mode already?
What do the other things mean? Is it that the vibration is lost? And switch off does not work? Or do you mean something else, which I do not understand?

Three questions:

Why do you not have Mac OS X Apps but oyu do for Linux and Windows?

Why do you not provide an OTA Flash for Android 6 to 7? You are losing customers on a very fast pace. By providing a better support service you will not lose them .

Why do you ALWAYS suggest one must reset to factory settings? This is not a solution most customers are happy due to losing your data and time to get the phone to back to how it was.

I have 'solved' my issue with Android7 by replacing the screen on my Android6 and using that phone. Android7 has TERRIBLE issues with signal loss.

I shall continue to use my P2 but when the time comes to replace my phone I shall NOT trust Blackview. The phones have great hardware and nice designs but the customer service and support is not good.

Hi jordimussol,

concerning the question of a flash tool version for MAC, I fear you address Blackview wrongly, as the tools come from Mediatek the chip manufacturer used by many Android devices or programmers that are not associated with Blackview.

An update of a Android version has some constraints. OTA is very much possible for an upgrade from 6.0 to 6.1 or similar, but a complete upgrade between 6 and 7 is different, as partition sizes change and plenty of other things. Besides OTA is not safe, if it fails your mobile is bricked and the only way to revive it is to have the ROM flashed as provided here. I have seen many times that OTA Zip were corrupted while downloaded or the update failed, as some system changes prevented a proper update. An OTA update typically only changes or replaces files, but does not completely wipe partitions. OTA is like a dirty flash and thus not recommended. Suggesting to factory reset often solves problem that are caused by apps. This is a normal procedure that is recommended. I also said that a backup of your data should be done first. And if you have a Google account re-installing the apps is quite easy.

Glad you were able to replace your screen. I don't see a signal loss, but I see that Nougat shows the signal bars lower, which is more correct. In Android 6 the bars were always almost filled, even if the signal was around -102dbm. In Android 7 it shows around half the bars which is more real now. I tested this in both versions.
Just a question, does any of you MAC address change after reboot (Wifi, Bluetooth or IMEI)? That could indicate that the NVRAM has issues and you could re-flash the modem files with the Nougat version to make sure. http://bbs.blackview.hk/viewtopic.php?f=171&t=336914#p609437
I personally always do this.
