BV5100 Pro needs a wedge app

The problem is that a barcode scanner device should just read the barcode everywhere and not into your application!

Hi,
I use at work the Zebra EC55 mobile phone and it can communicate with all apps without problems. Why the BV 5100 Pro cannot ?
Thanks to the support to fix the scan app.

Bought 4 of these for use at the auto auction I work at, both for the ruggedness and the scanner, hoping that having the laser scanner as opposed to using cameras to scan would improve speed and accuracy, but the way the scanner is setup it is impossible to do either.

Has anyone made any headway into making this scanner work the way it needs to in order to actually be useful, and not just spiffy flashing lights?

[Example - Use case]
1. I'm writing a text message to somebody;
2. I want to send him the barcode of the product I have in front;
3. I scan the barcode (978020137962);
4. The barcode is written directly into the message;

The same should happens for every application I'm using. This would really allow to use your phone for logistics purposes.

Every device with Android and a barcode scanner works like this.

What do you mean "It can't be used in App".
So it can only be used with the Scan App that comes with the device.
Why?

All that needs to be done is sending a public Broadcast event that all Apps can intercept.
This way, 3rd party apps will be able to utilize the scanner.

Hi,
I usually work with some rugged smartphone including laser scanner. Eg field book f57.
Those scanner can be simply configured to send the coded scanned symbols text to all applications, as if it comes from the keyboard. This input mode can also be completed by enter key, in order to be usable.
Why the bv5100 pro has no way to do that??
