But Local Update is definitively the best option, since you don't lose any data nor any system, as it is the case with flashing...

Would suggest to update to the next release through Local Update, and once installed, check if your phone does then recognize the next updates available

Thank you for your suggestion! My phones are on 20161011 and 20171216. The next official file for download I know is 20170414. Do you know any other files or would you try a local file update to 20170414 direct from that versions?

I tested to come from 20161216 to 20170223 by local file update but it don't work for me (it's still 20161216 after update process). I will try to flash 20170414 in the next days but I hoped 20170223 could be a solution for everyone who don't receive OTA Updates.

After trying to do local update the phone is now on infinite restart loop. Now I really need some help :!:

I was on version 20161216 and I have tried earlier to do Local update with 20170424. Today with the link to 20170223 I downloaded it and did Local update. The phone stayed on the update (circle) screen for two hours. It was certainly stuck so I powered it off. Version remained 20161216. I tried to update a couple of the times again, update was quick, but version remained 20161216. Then I tried local update with 20170424. Phone started to do the update and it took slightly longer time and showing the some progress texts, so very promising. But I ended up with infite restart loop. After staying 1-2 minutes on Blackview logo screen the phone says Anroid starting & optimizing application, then saying it is starting applications, then either directly rebooting or showing rarely very quickly Connect has stopped"(cannot recall exactly the text).

How to enter into Recovery or Safe mode? I have tested various combinations of Vol up & Vol down, Home and Power keys. I got into Factory mode, which had only choices for Test, Test report and Version. With another combination I got Android droid picture without anything to choose from. I assume I could try do Factory Restart, Cache clearing or some other alternatives, but I have not found a way to get the real recovery menu.

And Flashing is not an option as the phone usb connection is not visible to the computer now.

@Peko you can enter recovery with power+vol-up. When The green android appear press the same keys again.
Flashing may work for you because you do it with turned off device and uses other driver than data connection.

My phone too
But for now I don't try to flash
I think the 20170223 released is not suitable for the local update

Thanks Phil for the tip! I found the Factory Reset menu

I did the Factory Reset and infinite reboot stopped. The phone remained on version 20161216. I then tried to do the Local update again with 20170223. Same as earlier: phone tried to run the update, but finally the version remains unchaned at 20161216.

I did then the flashing and I am now finally on 20170414 (but lost all data files). I have been loading all the apps and the phone seems to work okey.

Next time you can try to backup your userdata in recovery before flashing (and restore after that).

Thanks for the tip. One should always follow the good Backup practices, but it is so easy to ignore them. A learning again.
