Bricked after re-flashing 20170414 update

Sun May 14, 2017 5:41 am

After reflashing 20170414 to try to get rid of some of these capacitive button sensitivity issues I've bricked the phone.
The process went through fine using Smart Phone flash tool. I even rooted the phone first.

Now the phone won't power on.

I'm thinking the only way to fix this is to pull the phone apart and take out the battery, then put it back in once the download button has been hit. The tools are still coming in the mail.

Is there any easier way of getting my phone back? Blackview Admin?

Maybe someone can tell me if there's an easier way of getting the battery out . The instructions on the web show the person
lifting up the motherboard to get to the clip. Is that the only way?

Search for "Android meta bootloader." Basically it is a idiot proof mode so that you can't really brick your phone too easily. It is activated by pressing combination of buttons (volume down and power I think worked for me, but try different combinations) while plugging into USB. Your PC will see the phone for a few seconds if you get it right. Then flash JUST the bootloader, then flash the ROM as normal. Maybe try a different ROM if yours didn't work. It's not that simple, but much easier than waiting for tools and tearing your phone apart.

Thanks for that.. But I think in order to get that to work you need to remove the battery.
Did you manage to do this without removing the battery?

And... are you sure your phone was hard-bricked. Not soft Bricked?

Will really reflashing the same version solve problems with buttons?

I've heard that it might... But I have a bigger problem now.. I've bricked the phone because the boot loader is probably different.

The update was successfully flashed but the phone won't start up.

The suggestions above will not work no matter what combination I try. There's always one point missing. I think the above will work if you remove the battery then reattach it.

Can anyone elaborate on the above?

Here are the instructions that I followed. You don't have to remove the battery. I'm pretty sure that my phone was hard bricked, it did absolutely nothing after flashing failed, wasn't even recognized in Windows. Volume down want the right key press for me to enter meta mode. It was ,I think, power + one of the volume buttons.

One you can get Windows to see the phone, flash using SP tools but only check the bootloader box. After that flash the ROM.

Thanks for the tips.
I've come to the conclusion that it depends on why the phone is Bricked as to whether this method (leaving the battery attached) will work.

If I've tried to install a different preloader along with my update (which it seems I did) then the phone cannot be started this way. I've tried everything .

Will just have to wait for the tools in the mail.

Before you start anything you have to unplug the battery connection.
open flashtool and go to the FORMAT area
select Auto Format Flash.... EXEPT bootloader and press play
plugin your phone holding the Volume Up button
( "By keeping the Vol-Up button pressed while you plug in the USB you activate the "Meta-Mode" which is kind of bypassing the regular download-mode. Its a kind of backdoor the Mediatek-Developers integrated in case of a bricked rom.
The Chipset is missing the original preloader, thats why its not getting recognised anymore." qoute from the blackview forum)
is successfull, plug off your phone
go to the flash tool DOWNLOAD area
load the scatter.txt from the original firmware i mentioned above
select only the PRELOADER.bin
select the DOWNLOAD ONLY option, press DOWNLOAD and plug in your phone holding the Volume up button
if finished plug off your phone
Select all files for download, download only, press download and plug in your phone holding the Volume up button again
wait till finished, plug off your phone and restart it......
hope it works for you as well !!!!

Take Note this method you would lose your IMEI

Thanks for the above. I should add that the first step (formatting without removing the bootloader) is critical to making this work. I tried to just flash the pre-loader and then the operating system second and the phone was bricked.

So again, that first step is critical.

I flashed the 20160822 Android 6.0 update and then did a local update to 20161025 Android 6.0.
My main aim was to get back to the latest version of Android 6 due to the Capacitive button problem with Android 7.0 (which seems to be largely ignored by Blackview).

Whilst the performance of these buttons is better under android 6, they still aren't great. They go to sleep easily and are hard to wake up at times. I have found by tapping the PTT button it wakes them back up. Maybe it's a safety feature, I'm not sure.

When I opened up my phone I noticed that the case was dated December 2016 so this was no doubt constructed later in the BV6000 distribution. I'm thinking that Blackview has swapped out the original capacitive buttons (Home / Back / Menu) for a cheaper version (to save on costs of the production of thousands of phones) and now it's starting to show. This might explain why some people are experiencing this problem and others aren't. Having said that under Android 7, Glove mode worked too well. Very sensitive. But without Glove Mode they were virtually inoperable at times and always very unresponsive.

Under Glove Mode (Android 6) the buttons seem to be just as unresponsive and the glove mode option doesn't work at all now.
I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that this won't be fixed or there's something sincerely wrong with the adaptation of the android operating system to this phone.

Not sure what the answer is :(
