How to remove app icons?

Hello, fairly new user to Android 6 here.

I'd like to remove some unneeded app icons from my homescreen, it's mere clutter to me. When I press down long enough, I can move the icon around freely, but there is no trashbin to remove it. Is something broken there?

I know from older Android OS (Android 4.x) that you have this app drawer and were able to remove unneeded icons from your homescreen whenever you wanted. These features seem missing entirely on this phone, and it kind of ruins the user experience to me.

So is there a way to remove those app icons from the homescreen?

Hi,

the one you want to remove is the preordered one? The preordered one can not be removed.

You can install a different launcher app.
I use Atom Launcher, this gives you the app drawer and you can select which apps you want to have visible on your screens without the need to uninstall something.
Just look around the different launcher app and try 2 or 3...

Hey, thanks for your answers. I've gotten around the cluttered screen by just dumping all the icons into a folder. Most elegant solution without external launcher apps for now.

yes putting certain apps into a folder and then renaming that folder something relative is what i do. the fact that you cant remove the icons isnt a blackview issue its and android Marshmallow issue, it was built like that, without an app drawer as we had become used to, im not sure if Android N brings the drawer back but i sure do miss it...

Funny, so far everything that's advertised being "stock Android 6" or "stock Marshmallow" has had the app drawer, from what I've seen. And I'm told Android N has it too on at least some devices.

It's just, a lot of people find the drawer confusing for some reason. (Well, I do find it more confusing to even have homescreen icons for all the silly plugins and optional app components that are never run independently, that I end up having to install anyway...)

Oh well, there's a bunch of these in the Play Store anyway. I'm using one such "aftermarket" launcher myself too. (Quotes because it's supposed to be just the default launcher rebuilt from Android Open Source Project official sources...)
