Touchscreen: Dead Zone around 'Space Key' requires double tapping

Dear Sir or Madam,
my newly bought BV6000 phone suffers from a touch screen problem in roughly the area where the space key of the Android keyboard is normally located:
It never reacts on the first touch. You have to touch repeatedly. It is not a Keyboard problem though. I turned on ANdroid Debugging Options to get the visual press indicator and then you can clearly see that it never reacts on the first tap in this area. You always have to tap twice.
The funny thing is, once it has started to work in this area then it keeps going - but only until you tap somewhere else then it is gone again.
To me this could even be a Software/Firmware/Controller issue because it can be repeated always.
This is extremely annoying when you try to use the on Screen Keyboard.
Please advise if I should return the phone to the vendor, or whether this is a Software issue. And that case could you please help fix it? I'm using the latest ROM available from this forum.
Many thanks and best regards
Martin from Germany
Note: This happens with both Screen foil attached and without. Also it happens with Glove Mode enabled and disabled. The rest of the Screen does not have this issue and reacts immediately on first tap.
