I just noticed that my widgets are not updating. I use Nova launcher prime and never had this problem with previous phones. Is there something in settings I have missed?

Try a factory reset.

Problem was "background task clear". I turned it off and widgeds work again. There was no need for factory reset!

Thanks for the tip. Background task clear is the key to solving many issues.
