Phone died suddenly - not charging - battery connector broken off

Hi guys.
My trusty old BV6000 suddenly died, and it would not take charge. Only 5V 120mAh for 6 seconds, then nothing.
I opened the phone, and the connector on the battery cable was stuck on the motherboard.
I gently lifted the connector away from the motherboard, but there seemed to be glue or similar inside, so the motherboard side lifted slightly.
Have any of you had similar experiences? I have ordered a new battery and will try so see if that fixes the issue.
On a side note, I found a small screw inside, but all screws inside are present. I guess the factory included it as a spare.
Thanks.
