OTG Support on the BV6000 (hardware of software issue)?

Thu Mar 15, 2018 4:30 am

My BV6000 does support OTG but more often than not I have to restart the phone to get it to recognize
a flash drive or something else.

Is this normal???

Just in case I bought a new USB module for the phone, but before I go through the trouble of installing it
can anyone tell me whether this would be a hardware issue or a software issue?

I'm using 8 July 2017 update which works well for everything else.. Does the latest update (one after this) resolve OTG issues or is this
really a hardware issue.

No, it's not normal. I never had problems with OTG with any BV6000 ROMs (I've tested alls)
You just need to connect first what you want in the OTG connector and after connect OTG cable in the BV6000.

Before replace OTG USB spare part, i think it should be better to flash the new ROM (the best for me since the beginning) to test if problem is solved ... (maybe it's a small bug and flashing a ROM is enough)
In all case it's very easy to roll back if needed and it take just a few minutes to do it.

If you have to replace OTG USB module you have to take care : by experience it's really difficult because you have to make very small soldering for the 4 pin's microphone.

Thanks for replying.. Do you know if there is any way of flashing the latest software (using SP Flash Tool) whilst saving all my apps / settings / bookmarks / and history ?

The only reason I've been reluctant to install the latest version is because I don't wan't to lose all my stuff.

Yes, of course, you have to uncheck "userdata" (last line in sp flash tool) so you don't lost anything. ;)

Hi
Thanks for that tip about unplugging the otg cord and plugging it in with the flash drive attached. It works like a charm.
In fact, it works every time now.

If this is just an OTG cable, then I'm unsure why this works. Do you or does anyone else out there know?

Thanks

I think that it depend how phones manage priority connection USB simple or OTG USB, but the better way is to do how it's explained above.
Don't forgot to eject the USB key before unplug for security.
