Install Magisk on BV6000??

Sat Aug 26, 2017 10:35 am

I'm having trouble installing Magisk on the BV6000.
I installed 'Magisk Manager' and downloaded Magisk through that but there was no option to install it.

I then moved the Magisk 13.3 zip file to external sd card storage I have in my phone and rebooted by BV6000 in recovery mode.

From there I selected the 'Update from SD card option' and navigated to the Magisk zip file.

The phone reboots and and Error occurs. It tells me that there is no Scatter file and the OTA package is not recognized.

I have seen comments about how to install Magisk on the forum but nobody says how it is installed.

How can I install Magisk on the BV6000 so I can root my phone?

Thanks

I plan to install Magisk on BV6000 but i prefer root the phone after a new/last ROM update for fix some bugs ...

For Magisk you should need first TWRP and flash Magisk through TWRP with OTG mouse if screen is not responding. After, you have to install Magisk manager.

I hope i can tell you more soon ...

No, TWRP is necessary to root the phone ...
If you have some time, maybe it's better you wait some weeks.
After root my BV6000 with Magisk, I'll make a small tutorial ...

There is a TWRP recover pack for the BV6000 I have downloaded, but when I go through all the steps and try to run it using SP Flash Tool I get an error 'Invalid Preloader'.

I assume there is a new TWRP recover pack for each version of Android 7. I have the 2017/07/06 version on my device.

Blackview admin, is there a TWRP pack for this version?

Thanks

TWRP for 20170708 Android 7 ROM. Updated kernel in recovery.

Personally I prefer to install supersu and the modded xposed and installer to work with Android 7.0. I have tried Magisk 13.3 and found it buggy, unable to get busybox or xposed to work properly.

Thanks for that. But this doesn't work!
The error I get is 'Invalid Preloader' ? 8th of July 2017 is the right version though.

The problem is, if I load the 'Preloader' first the phone will be bricked as I've previously discovered. The only way around this is to Format everything except the preloader using SP Flash tool first. Then install the Preloader, then flash Android 7 onto the phone.

So back to my original question, does anyone know how I can root the phone?

It flashes fine for me, just tested what I uploaded.

You shouldn't need to flash the preloader unless you have selected format all + download, only if the phone goes seriously fubar and you need to do a format, or rolling from Android 7 to 6. Formatting also deletes your imei and nvram config, not recommended unless you have a backup of these.

With spflash tools with an unmodified 20170708 rom (you could replace the TWRP recovery.img to save flashing twice), select DOWNLOAD ONLY, deselect userdata and flash. On rare occasions, twice for me after upgrading via spflash A6 to A7, even after a successful flash the phone won't boot and requires the battery to be disconnected for a second, reconnect and the phone will boot.

I'm using spflash 5.1648 with Windows 10 Mediatek drivers off windows update as the drivers are signed.

My phone is rooted with SuperSU v2.82.

That's strange. I updated my phone via Automatic Update. Would that be why there is a difference?
Why is SP Flash tools telling me that I have an Invalid Preloader ?
