Have I made a mistake by buying a BV6000....?

Sat May 20, 2017 8:59 pm

I tried very hard to have a very basic question answered this past week.....

Basically - I needed to know (as I'm in the UK) whether a Warranty Claim would be handled through the UK - in other words...should I require a Warranty Repair/Replacement - would I send the Phone to a UK address or would it be a CHINA address........... truly was a nightmare just to get this answered and I kept being referred to the Warranty Terms........my question was definitely NOT understood!

So based on trust - I ordered and paid for a BV6000 that arrived this morning - it was sold to me WITH ANDROID 7 pre-installed by the seller.........however when I started the phone up - it only had ANDROID 6 installed with ROM version V01_20161011 ..........

So I sent a query as to why this phone was advertised with ANDROID 7 and incorrectly supplied with an older version....... NO ANSWER - so it seems I'll be returning this product on Monday if I don't get a satisfactory answer.

Reading all the hassles folks are having with updating this phone ......I sure as hell don't want to have to struggle with ROM & ANDROID updating.......

Nice looking phone - would be great for my motorcycle trip in Africa...but do I really want to take the risk...........?

Hello, you should contact the re-seller to get a replacement.

Have I made a mistake by buying a BV6000

Really interesting question. If the car was cool in the first place, then Im sure it would carry it off. However, never make the mistake of thinking customisation will make an uncool car cool. It will just make it sad.

to ADMIN - Reseller is telling me I should download the ROM update and also the ANDROID 7 installation! :o

I'm NOT happy to do this as there' seems to be far too many problems now.........I would indeed prefer that I get the BV6000 from the supplier WITH the new ANDROID 7 installed.

Your recommendation to tell Reseller to replace the unit - will be forwarded to them - I will give feedback!

honestly, what do you expect? In case of a warranty repair, you will have to return the phone to where you got it from. This is self-evident. Do you think you can order a relatively cheap phone from China, and you'll get full first-class service in your country? If you need this, better buy a phone in a local store (and of course pay the surcharge for local customer service) - ordering a phone directly from China is obviously not the right decision for you.

Don't generalize, they are many BV6000 users fully happy with their phone, but it's in the human nature to shout when something´s wrong, and to shut when everything's fine

As you have 20161011, would try to upgrade via the Local Update method to 20161025 (it's safe, see viewtopic.php?f=144&t=101183&p=307071#p307071 for details) and then check if your phone does detect automatically that new updates are available

If you have bought your phone from Aliexpress don't confirm "goods recevied" and open a dispute if the item is not as described. If you have confirmed delivery, the seller got his (formerly yours) money and won't care anymore. Blackview got their money and probably won't care too. But if the phone is physically OK, you should try to update it with OTA. I did it when BV released Android 7 and had no problem with it. If the update fails, try to look or ask for solution on this forum. I didn't find significant differences between 6 and 7 other than gyroscope calibration option in engineering menu. So, enjoy. As long as your BV works the purchase wasn't a mistake. It it fails, the only mistake could be not buying Aliexpress warranty of replacement.

Erm...maybe you should read my post properly... WHERE did you get the info that I ordered the phone from China...?

My post indicated - very clearly - that I originally merely queried "if I bought a phone...and if I received it in the UK from a UK supplier.... and if there was a warranty issue - WHERE would the support come from.."

I specifically ordered and paid for the phone from a UK-based supplier!

Thanks for the info Tomator - I actually used a UK-based eBay store based in Hayes (not Aliexpress) ....... so there's a lot of protection via eBay & Paypal should the need arise. I suppose I was just a bit peeved at being sold a unit with the new OS on and then receiving a unit that I was expected to sit and do the updates on...
I appreciate your constructive feedback - many thanks
