Malware detected???

Sun Jan 29, 2017 4:52 pm

Hi All,

I'm using avast antivirus on my BV6000 recently it prompted after a scan that FotaProvider and UpgradeSys contains malware.

Please advise on this matter. Could it be a false alarm?

Thanks. Much appreciated.

Disable the app – Can be done via Android Settings -> Apps -> bad app -> Force stop/disable

This will prevent the app and any associated services from running.

- Root your device and uninstall the malicious apps. Usually reserved for advanced users, please do at your own risk.

- Install different, trusted, ROM to replace infected one. Usually reserved for advanced users, please do at your own risk.

heres where i got this information, you may want to visit the site yourself for more detailed information

from what i understand the legit Fota app is ok and it was giving false positive with malwarebytes but that has been fized, i dont use avast so i cant comment on that , i suggest you do some online research so you can discover what is what. i personally dont have any issues on my blackview with ROM from 0713

you may want to consider that rom if this problem continues for you but as always please do at your own risk.

The app is there for getting Over The Air Updates for the BV6000. It is NOT Malware but there are Versions out there with a weak spot.

I can confirm that on my two newly unpacked BV6000 were two Malware apps detected, one is "AdupsFota", the other is HTMLViewer.apk.

The first phone has been in use for 4 weeks and has shown new apps installed by itself on a daily basis. Because the phone that was replaced by the first BV6000 was still usable i could confirm that none of the apps I installed via PlayStore where malwares themselves.

The last malware app before i took the new phone out of Service was an app which wouldn't let me take calls until I acknowledge a popped up ad.

Build Number of both phones is BV6000_Blackview_V01_20161011

I tried to disable both apps but I wasn't able to find them in the Settings menu described above...

Please help?

You can disable both apps in "settings > apps > (menu>) show system apps > tap app > deactevate".
Or you could (better but more complicated) flash a newer firmware without that problem over your computer.
