I had the same problem and solved it. The screen protector is covering the proximity sensor which is about 1 cm to the right of the front camera. The sensor is not easily visible, but with the proper lighting conditions, you can find it. Punch a hole in the screen protector, and then you problem is ...

Reduce AVRCP to version 1.3 in Developer Options. That worked for me.
